Since his brain injury, we’ve worked together to establish a routine that balances therapy, cognitive practice, eating independently, and rest, each day bringing its own rhythm of activity and renewal. Today, I’d love to share what a typical day looks like for him, along with some reflections on why this balance is so crucial. I hope this might offer insight and encouragement for others navigating similar paths. Morning: Starting with Care and Focus Our morning starts around 8:00 AM with a calm routine. Breakfast is not just about nourishment but also a grounding moment where we can prepare for the day ahead. It is also a time to learn for Tobias, to repeat movement and for his brain to make the connections of moving all muscles at...

Reflecting a church visit with Tobias

Feeling Out of Place, Finding Comfort in God Being at church today was bittersweet. As I sat beside Tobias, I couldn’t help but notice the young, healthy people around us—the kind of vibrant individuals Tobias once was. It’s hard not to feel a sense of loss seeing him there, knowing how different things are now. Life has a way of making us feel out of place sometimes, like we’ve been misplaced in the very places we once belonged. But I’m reminded that God has a plan for each of us, even when we can’t see it. His love is constant, and even when life feels like it’s moving us into unfamiliar spaces, He is there, guiding us. A Moment of Reflection at Church Today, I went with Tobias to church, and as I sat beside him, I couldn’t help but notice the young, vibrant people around us—the same kind of healthy, energetic individuals Tobias used to be. It was hard not to feel a pang of sorrow seeing him in between those who hadn’t faced the challenges he now carries. Yet, amidst the contra...

"Embracing Change: Finding Strength and Hope with Tobias

"Embracing Change: Finding Strength and Hope with Tobias One of those days which is filled with Emotions, planning, or just the busyness. But I’m learning to accept that it’s okay. Sometimes, life doesn't go as planned, and that’s perfectly fine. I recently hired a neighbor, who has been a source of joy and support for many years, to help with Tobias for 9 hours a week. She’s been faithfully writing her own blog every single day for over 12 years! Her consistency is admirable, and I’d love for you to check out her inspiring journey at Unendlich Geliebt. A great example.  As for Tobias, he’s doing well, and I feel blessed to see the progress he’s made. Has he reached all the milestones I initially envisioned? Not exactly, but what matters is that we’re moving forward. He faces physical limitations, and his body doesn’t always cooperate with what his mind desires, but he’s still here with us, full of life and love. That’s something to celebrate every day. His journey: Through th...

A Day with Tobias: Strength of Mind Within a Weak Body

Image
A Day with Tobias: Strength of Mind Within a Weak Body Today, Tobias was quieter than usual. His body seemed weak, and it was hard for me not to notice the subtle signs of his fatigue. But even on days like this, when his physical energy is low, his mind remains sharp and strong, full of determination. That’s one of the things I admire most about him—his unbreakable spirit, even when his body feels like it's working against him. A typical Saturday morning: The morning started like many others. Tobias was lying in bed, and although I could sense his tiredness, I knew movement was essential. His body may not always cooperate with him, but without movement, the stiffness and pain only worsen. So, after some gentle massages, getting him dressed for the day, I helped him to walk from his bed to the lift. It was not as easy, I felt the burn in my arms :). His steps were slow, deliberate—reminding me of a sloth, that slow-moving creature that takes its time with every action. Tobias often...
